It started with the formation of Syarikat Vicom in 1985 by Mr. Loong Kok Chong with the intention of providing computing and video services to its customers. The company had initially explored on the possibility of using computers in the field of video production. But during that time computers had difficulties adapting to the video industry. Computers lack the speed to achieve the high resolution and 25 frames per second requirements of the video specification. Extensive modifications and programming were needed to achieve less than acceptable results. Computer based solutions were expensive and out of reach of most people. Computers were mainly used only as a tool to graphics and effects development for video production. Only after the introduction of the Amiga computers, the possibility of using computers in main stream video editing and production is possible at a reasonable price point. Hence, the introduction of a new phrase “Multimedia”; the ability to do various media. Multimedia and video solutions have fused and differences between them blurred. Since then, Syarikat Vicom has introduce computer based multimedia, video production, and graphics creation systems to many governmental and institutional establishments. In 1991, Syarikat Vicom converted to Visioncom Sdn Bhd to better serve our customers. Visioncom has grown into one of the market leader in providing video and multimedia solution with special emphasis on the Amiga platform systems and Toaster solutions. Visioncom in recent years, have continued to introduce breakthrough multimedia solutions to the Malaysian market place such as PC platform systems running on NewTek Video Toasters, Matrox Award winning Digisuites and Pinnacle Reeltime Engines.
